Our Story
Little Deer, inspired by one of Frida Kahloa’s paintings, is the next chapter of Café Frida, carrying forward in the same neighborhood, community, and creative spirit that made the café a local gathering place.
In the 1930s, Frida Kahlo spent time in Santa Rosa visiting Luther Burbank’s experimental gardens, where the blending of plant varieties sparked her fascination with transformation and hybridity. That spirit shaped Café Frida and continues with Little Deer.
The name reflects that sense of curiosity and evolution. Warm, welcoming, and inspired by nature, art, and place.
It’s a nod to Santa Rosa’s artistic past and SOFA’s creative energy, while creating a new home for community, culture, and a really good cup of coffee.
